J.A.Kemp & Co. was founded as a chemical patent practice. We have been involved in patenting in the chemical field for over 50 years and have considerable experience in securing, defending and opposing chemical patents in the UK, Europe, the United States, Japan and most other countries of the world. Our clients are varied, ranging from individuals, universities and small start-up companies to large multi-nationals.

The diverse areas of chemistry in which members of the group have expertise enables us to provide a high quality service in all parts of chemical technology. We have considerable experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications and handling oppositions and appeals before the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office, as well as in other parts of the world including the United States and Japan.

We regularly advise our clients on patent strategy. We also assist several multinational European clients who handle routine work themselves but who rely on us for opinion and advice work on matters of commercial importance.
