Jimmy drafts and prosecutes patent applications relating to a broad range of inventions in the biotechnology and life sciences fields, spanning immunology, antibodies, antibody discovery, genetic engineering, nucleic acid amplification and biosensors.
He also has significant experience with Oppositions, third party observations and surveillance of competitor portfolios at the European Patent Office and in other jurisdictions.
Jimmy works with a variety of clients in the UK, Europe and the US, including small to mid-size biotechnology companies and technology transfer offices, handling patent portfolios covering many countries. He has experience with assisting start-up companies from early stage IP evaluation through to developing a patent portfolio, freedom to operate searching and due diligence.
He has also been involved in a multi-national litigation project relating to transgenic platforms for antibody discovery, successfully defending a key patent on appeal at the EPO and coordinating the defence with ongoing litigation.
Jimmy joined J A Kemp in 2006 and became a partner in 2016. Jimmy has a Masters Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Molecular Biology from University College London. He is a French national and speaks fluent French.
